Red Powder Puff ( Calliandra Haematocephala )
Plants are life forms that humans and thousands of other species need to survive. There are about 390,800 recorded plant species on Earth. Estimates of plant algae species range from 40 thousand to 140 thousand. Plants are the only life forms that can produce their own food using energy from sunlight. The world's plants produce almost all of the oxygen in the air that humans and other animals breathe. Plants are also an important source of food, building materials, and other resources that make life possible for Earth’s animals and humans as well. As we all know, trees are the largest of all plants and not only supply food, oxygen, shade and water but also serve as homes for many species. A large old tree 40 meters tall may be the home of over 1,000 species of wildlife that is not just made up of insects. Plants also keep storms from moving further inland, hold the ground together to help prevent erosion, supply nutrients, slow the force of winds, supply shelter for animals on the ground as well, are used to make medicines, are used to make some clothes and are a large source of revenue ( not just as food ). Many plants are being wiped out worldwide and 10% of the world's tree species are threatened with extinction. Plants are vital to life on Earth, so the habitats they thrive in need to be protected at all costs. Learn more from websites listed below.
